Gaiole in Chianti. Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera and Canaiolo from a vineyard at 435 m above sea level planted in 1973 in the hamlet of Barbischio.
Lustrous mid ruby. Minerally, crushed stones and a flattering note of oak over a deep layer of red cherry. Slow to unfurl on the palate with raspberry and sour-cherry fruit with plenty of acidity that is really well integrated. Fine powdery tannins cling to the fresh cherry fruit on the finish.
Super-elegant and long, but needs more time in the bottle.
