Dolcetto: Italy’s Overshadowed, Underestimated Wine About Brovia
One of my favorite Dolcettos was the 2014 Vignavillej, from Brovia, a top Barolo producer. Brovia make s a “regular” Dolcetto (Vignavillej) as well as a special cuvée (Solatio) in exceptional vintages. But 2009 was the last time a Solatio was produced, and there are no plans for another anytime soon. There is, however, good news. According to Brovia’s Alex Sanchez, the 2015 Vignavillej, to be released this spring, will contain grapes that were otherwise destined for Solatio.
